Taking the photos
Daylight is best. Stand back far enough to get the whole piece in, then go in close on the damage.
For a chair, the underneath of the seat shows how it was made and woven. For a table, a shot across the top at an angle shows up marks and lifting veneer.
What to send
- The whole piece, standing on the floor
- The damage, close up
- Underneath the seat or the top, if you can
- Any maker’s label or stamp
- Your name and where you are
