Furniture restoration in Perth
Craig’s workshop is in Bankfoot, about nine miles up the road from Perth, or roughly a quarter of an hour by car.
Repairs, French polishing, chair seating and new furniture, for Perth homes and the pieces that have been in them for generations.

A city of wrights
Between 1700 and 1840 more than six hundred wrights worked in the Royal Burgh of Perth and its suburbs. Furniture making in the town was largely run by the Wright Incorporation of Perth.
One of them, George Sandeman, supplied furniture to the Duke of Atholl, and made laburnum chairs for his own daughter. Perth was one of the places where laburnum, “Scotch walnut”, was most used.
A lot of what those makers and their successors built is still about. A Perth dining table or a set of chairs that has had a hard century deserves someone local who knows the trade.
